Ethernet not Connected

Hello,
On my maverick hackintosh, everything works fine, wifi included.
I would like to use my ethernet port, but in preference>network, it says "Either the cable for Ethernet is not plugged in or the device at the other end is not responding."
Of course i checked cable, connection, etc on another pc.
If someone could help me , it would coool

connect cat5e cable both ends and reboot.
