Editing your "About This Mac"

If your About This Mac has your CPU as unknown instead of your Core i5 or Core i7 then this just might be for you...

Go to System/Library/CoreServices/Resources/English.lproj
Edit AppleSystemInfo.strings with Xcode. (Possibly others too but that is what I use and it is free with OSX after all)

Find "UnknownCPUKind" = "unknown"

and change it.
You might have to save file to desktop and then replace the original by moving it.

Nice find, although it may interfere with Updates in the future- you never know.

OSx86 Tools used to do a similar hack in Leopard- but it was problematic- never tried it myself, so I can't really comment, but thought I'd put that info out there.
