DVD Player not recognizing the DVD drive

Well - so far as I can tell, everything ML is now working like a dream... apart from the DVD drive (Liteon, not sure of the model)

The drive is recognised, iTunes can burn discs with it it, VLC can play discs on it, but the DVD player doesn't recognise it - I just get the "A valid DVD drive could not be found" initialization error.

Anyone got any ideas on this?

Hi, the download file is not working. It is recognized as document file. Do you have this problem?

It is not an executable. You just replace the same file inside the framework package.

BUT .... there is a better solution that involves replacing (2) AHCI related kext files with Lion versions. Search the forum. This also fixes the slow disk performance in ML.

** if you apply this framework fix, then apply the (2) Lion kext fixes, you'll break your DVD player again.
I'd recommend use the AHCI kext fix for this problem.
