DVD Player App Crash?

I used to be able to play (DVD/CD-R) video files that had been copied to my Hack hard drive, using the DVD Player app now located in System/Library/CoreServices/Applications. This was when my build was identified as the default iMac14,2 definition. Recently, I updated my build to Macmini8,1 to better reflect my hardware configuration, and to provide for future (Mojave to Catalina) OSX upgrades. Now when I launch the DVD Player app, it immediately crashes (screen shot below). All previous 3rd party kexts have been maintained and updated, and reside in E/C/k/O. No other system wide changes have been applied. Does anyone know if I need an additional kext that may be required with the new Macmini8,1 definition, or is there something else I should looking at?

No idea why the DVD player app crashed.

You may need to download and install a third-party app such as VLC player for macOS in order to play the files you saved to your hard drive - https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.en_GB.html

Ed, thanks for the recommendation. Installed, and works. Just seems odd that the Mac app is crashing; makes me wonder if other unknown issues exist.

You will only find that out when you try to use an Apple App or feature.
