Hi there,
A friend of mine built me a really nice hackintosh computer. I went out and got a seperate harddrive and picked up windows 7 at best buy for a pretty decent price. Installed Windows 7 and I was getting hung up on the windows starting screen. Long story short, we figured out the video card was causing problems. When we removed the video card and used the integrated chip, windows 7 started up no problems at all, but when the video card is installed it takes about 10 minutes to get passed the start up screen and then the computer runs super slow, general CPU usage is around 20% with the video card installed.
Oddly enough, everything works just fine when we boot up into Mac OSX. So I returned my video card which was a Gigabyte HD Radeon 6870 and got the XFX HD Radeon 6870. Windows starts up in about 5 minutes now, but still the computer runs slow. We've tried everything but cannot figure out why Windows 7 is having such a hard time with the video cards. I've removed old drivers, updated bios, the whole nine yards but still does not work with windows 7.
Not sure if anyone has experienced this issue before or not, but if you have and have ideas to why this is happening, I'd love to heard your feedback.
