Hello Everyone !
I'm sure this question is asked all the time in here, i work for a small post production facility and handles about 15 - 20 films per year and we have about 3 edit bays, handle Color Correction, Sound & everything...
We just finished a film for WWE and Fox - i'm assisting on this current film for the hallmark channel, one thing i have noticed is the only thing we do not handle is transcoding of RED RAW Etc files...
I handled the conform for the WWE / FOX title on a 12 core mac pro using da vinci resolve 10, i was a bit let down at the performance of the full maxed out machine unfortunately.
I have decided to build a machine that rivals that machine and has better expandability than the 12 core system we have - here are my questions, what is a good build ?
for my personal build, i will not be able to afford a Titan card however i do plan on purchasing on maybe a few weeks after i build my hackintosh as i have heard they do quite well with red cine x.
however my boss also wants me to build him a machine, so he will be wanting the best card he can get, now its only a matter of picking the best processor, i prefer to get something i can overclock and setup for liquid cooling.
in your guys experience, what would be an ideal build as far as mobo / processor (overclockability taken into consideration) and expandability on the mother board etc...
the machine will need to have enough slots for an AJA card, Decklink Pro, Fibre Channle Card, Thunderbolt Card if they sell them, Firewire 800 card, eSATA card, preferably a capable of handling / holding about 24 TB's in hd's ... 16 TB's is acceptable but the goal is 24 TB's ...
Any recommendations ? let's start with the CPU, should i be interested in a i5 or i7 ?
thanks guys !
