Disk Utility not launching

Hello,

i'm using 10.7.4 and when i launch disk utility, it will just hang. same thing when you do this, apple>about this mac>more info>storage.

but if i boot into my back up image, it works fine. could it be because i'm using SSD? anyone had the same issue?

could it because i dont have AHCI kext installed like in viewtopic.php?f=264&t=57962&start=0

i use the same board. the issue i'm facing is, when i installs that kext, i get kernel panic. any help would be appreciated.

i found the answer!

my SSD was hooked up to the SSD cache port on the sabretooth x79 board. after putting ont he correct port, it is fine now.
