I've got a good, working Sierra install. I cloned it to a new SSD (Samsung EVO) with Carbon Copy Cloner (I've tested it and its bootable), and followed the advice in "Guide: Update Directly to macOS High Sierra (APFS)" step by step, using the High Sierra version of Multibeast.
I then selected that new clone as the destination for "Install macOS High Sierra.app" and after some seconds it prompts for reboot.
On reboot however, I get stuck at the Gigabye logo page and none of the keystrokes (Del, F12) have any effect. It just seems frozen there.
I've tried unplugging all drives except the new cloned SSD.
I can get everything back up and running by forcing the system to shutdown, reconnecting all the original drives and resetting the bios, and loading my old profiles.
However, would like to get to the point of being able to start the install process. Any suggestions gratefully received.
