I just did the 10.6.8 upgrade and now I can't boot past the big apple screen.

I have a fermi (GTS450) card and I didn't see the note about installing the drivers BEFORE rebooting. Am I hosed now? I am thinking I may need to run out and get another graphics card just to get things rolling again. Will that even work? Which card should I get if so?

Thanks!

I did same mistake. personally, i entered system on my carbon copied 10.6.7, explored nvidia driver package, till I found all the single packages included in the file, extracted them and then I launched them 1 by 1. each time, I changed target, from the carbon copied hd, to the main 10.6.8 hd. When I installed them all, I reboot, and with my surprise, must admit, I entered system finally! :) hope this helped.

450 works OOB. not drivers need, but in Lion

Hmm. This sounds bad. In my experience the gts450 needed the fermi booter and drivers.
It also has the dreaded fermi freeze which was fixed with Mach desktop.

I guess I'll see If I can stick another video card in and get things rolling. Otherwise I'll have to pull the drive and stick it in an enclosure and see if I can manually revise the drivers as suggested from my laptop. Sigh.
