Dell XPS13 L322X Yosemite Installation Problem

Not open for further replies.
Please share your step-by-step guide. I will try Yosemite on the same model later this week :)

I will probably use the files located here:

http://vladichimescu.me/consultant/DellXPSL322X/project/?iframe=true&width=800&height=600

I used the basic clover guide from Rehabman :)
http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...oting-os-x-installer-laptops-clover-uefi.html

Also used the DSDT from Vlad's site. and the little guide to add the XPS photo in "about this mac"
Also used some of the kexts from his site for the brightness. I managed to get brightness working
with his kexts and Rehabman's DSDT patches from :
https://github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch
read through the readme it helps :)

good luck!
I reïnstalled about 3 times before I got everything working correctly. Read every step
very carefully because if you miss something, you end up with a non booting system :)

I still need some adjustments and stuff, but got Wifi, Sound, Brightness, appstore, iMessage, Facetime.
So all basics are up and running. I replaced my Wifi with a Atheros AR5B95 (ar9285) which I also
used back when I installed ML on a Probook. I am planning to replace the wifi card with a Broadcom
BCM94360HMB model. Because I do not have any Bluetooth and the wifi speed could be faster.

I also used the VoodooHDA driver for sound (version 2.7.4.r63) this because I simply could not get
the native AppleHDA working. I tried for a couple of days but couldn't fix it.

Did you manage to get native AppleHDa working for the ALC275?

Edit :
Speedstep is also working :)

Great news, I managed to get native audio working with a DSD Patch. I'll upload my EFI clover folder when I get home, should be a simple copy and paste for you.

For Facetime i had to retreive the MLB and ROM numbers from an old mac, everything is working for me with the exception of multi-touch gestures. Also getting 3-4hr battery life which I'm happy with.

I replaced my wifi with http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301369012086?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT works out of the box. Let me know how you get on with the BCM94360HMB, would like to get bluetooth working.

Nice :) can't wait to see your clover folder, hope to get that working. As soon as I receive the wifi
I will report back.

For FaceTime I did the following with the cloverconfigurator after I deleted all my networking
devices in system preferences --> networking :

Click several times on the little shake buttons to generate a Unique Serial for you Mac. (Note: This is only an example, don’t use the serials shown in the image!)
Now you need to check, if your Serial is a generic one and not from a real mac.
To do this: go to https://selfsolve.apple.com and enter you generated serial. If you don’t get an error Message, just randomise the serial again with the 2 little shake buttons. Repeat this until you get an error message on the site.
Click on “OK” to save you SMBIOS.

You should now have a screen similar to this one.

Now you need to populate those 2 RED indicated fields.
Open Terminal and enter:
uuidgenThis will output something like this:
C5FAA18D-AA58-44E4-ABBF-C31885429CD7Repeat this 3-4 times to be sure to get an unique one. Copy it and paste it into SmUUID.

The second file that needs to be populated, is the board ID.
For this, just copy your Serial and Enter some random letters and numbers, that you get a length of 17 digits!
In my example this would be: C02LHIA7DNMP7E8G4

after this re-add the networking devices and FaceTime/imessage was good to go :D

(I hope it's okay that I copied this from another website)

Hi,

I can't get to to the Yosemite install screen.

I boot with the flags: IGPEnabler=N GraphicsEnabler=N -x -v -f UseKernelCache=N dart=0 USBBusFix=Yes

First I used the config.plist from http://vladichimescu.me/consultant/D...800&height=600

Was only able to get to a non-graphic version of the Clover boot menus. Booted with the mentioned flags. Half way through loading to the install screen, it stopped (Apple logo and stop sign).

Then I used the config_HD4000_1600x900.plist (renamed to config.plist) From:
https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Clo...ive/master.zip

Was able to to get a graphic Clover menu. Booted with flags: IGPEnabler=N GraphicsEnabler=N -x -v -f UseKernelCache=N dart=0 USBBusFix=Yes

But get the attached panic screen.

I have not edited the config_HD4000_1600x900.plist

Could you please attach your working config.plist file to a post? Maybe a whole zipped folder with confirmed working files for this laptop model :)

My system is like yours. Processor is the i7-3687U model.

Thanks a lot.

You seem to be mixing Clover and Chimera things... They are different bootloaders... Clover does not use things like IGPEnabler GraphicsEnabler, etc.

Hi and thanks for your help.

I had no success with Clover, so installed using Unibeast (laptop support)

I ran Multibeast afterwards and used the UserDSDT option and the DSDT file from here:
http://vladichimescu.me/consultant/D...800&height=600

I choose to install Chimera bootloader and selected 1080p Display Mode in Multibeast.

But still I have to start from my Unibeast USB stick and then use the boot flags: IGPEnabler=N GraphicsEnabler=N -x -v -f UseKernelCache=N USBBusFix=Yes to start Yosemite.

The screen resolution in fine now. But navigating in the OS X menues are pretty slow.

I must be missing something.

Owners of this XPS model, can you please guide me in the correct direction? :)

What is happening while trying to boot from HDD?

IGPEnabler=N GraphicsEnabler=N will disable the graphics drivers.

You should boot from your HDD with the appropriate flags.

Sorry for the delay, I noticed a few issues with the build which I wanted to resolve before I shared my setup. Specifically the issues where no audio after sleep and the touchpad being seen as a ps2 mouse. For the audio I compiled CodecCommander with the correct layout_id, this resolved the issues with sound.

The touchpad, I initially tried the Cypress Touchpad kext from Ulysse31 it wouldn't work, booting with no keyboard or mouse. Taking a snapshot of the latest build of Rehabmans VoodooPS2Controller I incorporated Ulysse31 work with a couple of additions 3 finger swipe (Ulysse31 had four finger, I struggled to use it consistently) and also Rehabmans momentum scrolling. I have disabled momentum scrolling in the version that's attached, when I get around to making changes to the preference panel to configure scrolling I'll release the version (fingers crossed Rehabman will incorporate it into his build).

The DSDT is from vlad, with adjustments for audio.

These files are intended for Clover, if you follow http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-laptop-support/146758-guide-dell-xps-13-9333-a.html with the attached files you will end up with a 100% working Yosimite laptop (not including wifi, you'll have to change the card). Enjoy.

Make sure you release the source code by creating a fork on github. It is a requirement of the license.
