Hi,
I’m trying to install SL on my Dell Latitude E5400, intel hm55 based, core i3 processor, Intel HD Graphics (i3 core) – on the USB external drive.
Using legacy iBoot method I succeded in installing the retail (10.6) version, but system does not boot afterwards (both using standard chameleon and iBoot CD), resulting in a reboot soon after OS selection.
Using my main hack I’ve installed:
- combo update for version 10.6.6 (support for newer CPUs and newer MBs)
- chameleon (one of the latest builds, same version I’m using on my desktop)
- fakesmc + plugins in /E/E (latest builds, same versions I’m using on my desktop).
To my surprise system boots properly with a very clean boot sequence (attached kernel.log + system.log), except for video card, which is not recognized at all.
Booting shows the following as the latest message:
Jan 16 14:28:10 localhost kernel[0]: AppleTyMCEDriver::start coreVIDPID = 0x2c628086 Number of packages = 1 Number of cpu
And no UI is displayed. Disk keeps loading, as if system had started, but no actual UI is shown. I get NO KPs, no errors, no warnings expect for an apparently harmless unknown firewire device:
localhost kernel[0]: IT87x: [Warning] found unsupported chip ID=0x4b00
Looking at the system.log file I can see the following error:
localhost WindowServer[103]: kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged.
Any idea? Why is UI shown during install process only (system profiler associates “NO KEXT†to graphics adapter, 1024 x 768 resolution during installation)? Any experience with this adapter?
I tried with both GraphicsEnabler and –x flag and got the same results.
Thank you for your help!!
