Yes... like when someone makes a mistake in partitioning tools and accidentally erases their Windows install. Or breaks the Windows bootloader and lacks skill to recover and lacks skill to pull important data from the resulting situation. Without a backup... those family vacation photos... gone.

Hello friends, thanks for this excellent instructions.
i have inspiron 7537 nvidia. All is working perfect except hdmi port.
i want to use external monitor, when I connect hdmi system not boot. Kernel panic error.
if connect on working mavericks it hangs for some time then reboot.
is it possible to activate hdmi port on laptop?

Please provide complete details in your profile.

System: manufacturer/model
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx). For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

You have stock Intel graphics kexts? I'm using same configuration on my Lenovo u430 and HDMI works (and HDMI audio with appropriate patches). I'm using Clover.

Could be DSDT/ACPI issue...
