Hey all,
Been a huge fan and member of TonyMacx86 for almost 10 years now. It's so awesome to see this community still going on strong. I recently decided to try OS X on a laptop and got this Dell 7586 i5 from FB marketplace for a good price. I couldn't find any decent references or guides for people trying Catalina on these laptops using Clover, so I decided to go the Opencore route. I'm typing this message on here on my HackSpiron now
Long story short, I was able to get Catalina running really quickly on this laptop but have been struggling for days now to get a few key things working.
Working:
Not Working:
The biggest most important thing for me is getting the iGPU working so I can plug this into my 4k screen and use this as my desktop replacement. I can live without most everything else if I have to, however if I'm going to be mobile, I'll eventually need the trackpad, and sleep/wake functions also working.
For the iGPU, I've used Hackintool and Windows to identify my iGPUs platform id & device id, but no matter what I try, I can't seem to get acceleration working. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I notice a lot of apps are really laggy sometimes, hoping that's a GPU related issue.
Hopefully someone can help, I know most of us here use Clover to get our hackintosh stuff up and running, but after learning OpenCore, I've come to realize it'd just an application of the same stuff with a different approach.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Working:
- Startup + Shutdown (Fast)
- Keyboard
- Touchscreen
- USB 3.0 + USB C port
Not sure about Thunderbolt, haven't had a chance to try it - Webcam
- Wifi + Bluetooth (bought a pnp Broadcom osx compatible m.2 card)
- All iServices (iMessage, facetime, airdrop, handoff, sidecar, etc)
- Sound
Max volume seems kind of low, although it could just be the laptop, not a biggie
Not Working:
- UHD 620 iGPU (Reports 7mb) - No acceleration
- Trackpad
- Sleep / Wake
When idle, screen just freezes until interaction occurs, if lid is closed, on return only get black screen, same for sleep - Dimming/Brightness
