Thanks for your testing - I'll try and collate the results in a graphics cards section of the first post. Are you testing with DVI, DP or HDMI? Dual or Single screens?

Testing with only 1 screen and only the 2 DVI outputs, because don't have HDMI screen and don't have DisplayPort to DVI ...
But when I will have it I will test it again ;)

Thanks!
It works!
Please let me know what I need to do for HDMI?

Again, thank you so much!

Video or Audio?

Video

I think there is no way to use audio via HDMI now. Maybe I am wrong
Thanks!

Video - Should work with the Chameleon boot file. If not natively you might have to try some different frame buffers to get the HDMI working. I have a HDMI>DVI converter so I can test it later on tonight.

Audio - It is possible with a DSDT edit as far as I know. I'm only running DVI so haven't tested it as it's a bit of a pain to get my TV near my Hack.

TonyMac wrote a guide in Oct 2010 on his Blog about how to do it with Nvidia cards:
http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/10/hdmi-audio-video-solutions.html

I haven't tried replicating it on an ATI card but I have seen someone mention that they have got sound on the ATI cards using a DSDT edit but I haven't researched to see if it's the same.

On this point I will have to bow to anyone elses superior knowledge or testing. But I can go and do some reasearch in the mean time.

Re: CustoMac Pro Install Guide (X58A-UD3R+ATI 5770+10.6.6+64bit)

Adjusted my build with the experimental bootloader to go from 32 to 64 bit.
Didn't seem to help much but it seems my scores are on par with everyone else.

Geekbench 15k
cinebench - 26.43 fps (32 bit) and 8.52 cpu
cinebench - 26.75 fps (64 bit) and 8.38 cpu

I am using a x58 gigabyte board with a gigabyte 5770, I7 970 and 24 gigs of ddr3 1600

Everything works for what I am doing but always trying to tweak things so they can work to their maximum potential.

Re: CustoMac Pro Install Guide (X58A-UD3R+ATI 5770+10.6.6+64bit)

Guys, I have another annoying behavior with video card. When my second DVI port connected, but display is turned off, I have a strange mouse delays and jumps. Like something take resources. Do you know about such bug and about ways to fix it?

First issue, which needs to reconnect DVI cable on the main display, cause black screen flickering with message "Entering powers saving mode" - can't find solution for it. Will be great to get useful advice or links.

Thanks a lot

   24 Gigs of RAM

Please can you update your specs in your profile and also create a signature so that people can give better guidance for future posts?

Next step is maybe to head over to the Overclocking section of the forum. With a i7-970 it should fly :ugeek:

Re: CustoMac Pro Install Guide (X58A-UD3R+ATI 5770+10.6.6+64bit)

Lol.
I work at Microcenter so I bought the Patriot Sector 7 ram for only 145 dollars with a 40 dollar rebate. So I figured 200 bucks for 24 gigs was worth it :)
And I only paid 240 for my I7 970 through Intel Retail Edge.
So my hackintosh was prolly cheaper than most, more bank for the buck!
I'll upload specs later tho.
My numbers look right tho for scores?

Sorry - I don't have any 5870's to test.

-----------

Sorry for ducking the question slightly!

I asked Dr. Who? about it, as he's got a similar model. It should be compatible, but I don't think it's worth the extra $$$ and risk...

What I'm thinking I could do now is buy a 6870 for my new machine and use it as PC. When Apple releases official Sandy Bridge support I'll try hackintosh the ASUS P8P67 (hopefully compatible). By then either the 6*** series will be supported, or, I'll buy myself a cheap Nvidia 9800GT or something along those lines to tie me over until 6*** series drivers. At least that card should be supported OOB.

Does anyone have any idea how to get two cards working in a hackintosh? In other words, the 6870 for Windows and the 9800GT for the Mac.

Also my other questions:
  1. Does the ASUS P8P67 support two graphics cards?[/*:m:2302bc21]
  2. Does anyone know what models 6870 are reference?[/*:m:2302bc21]

Thanks for any help you're willing to give!

Great tutorial. Just a simple question, could you please kindly point out the difference between Mac Pro 3,1 and Mac Pro 5,1? I am using 5,1 on my i7 and it's fine. Just curious what would the difference be.
