Already Owned

MSI GEFORCE NV8800GT 512MB
250GB ST3250318AS
120GB WD1200JS-00MHB0

I don't think you can buy them anywhere anymore, probably on eBay.

Installation was quite easy (once i found out the proper way of course). I've started all while on 8800GT. Boot Installer with UniBeast using "GraphicsEnabler=Yes PCIRootUID=0" flags. After OS was correctly installed, first boot with UniBeast using the same flags. On MultiBeast i just checked DSDT and Lnx2Mac Ethernet (DSDT can befound in this forum for exactly this motherboard). After installing DSDT, there was time for the first boot without UniBeast - it worked, but with no audio, so I ran MultiBeast again and select ONLY Current ALC877 Without DSDT. Then while still on 8800GT install NVIDIA Geforce drivers for 10.8, and reboot with 650Ti and GraphicsEnabler=No. GPU is working perfect - Batman Arkham City is flawless on 1080p with high details.

Sleep and wake is working, audio, ethernet, gpu etc. I don't know about HDMI Audio.

What was your GA-H61M-S1 bios version number?

I just bought the motherboard and it is version 2.2 and the only bios version I see in the forum is version 2.1 F5

I am not sure which of the following to do:

1. Downgrade my bios to the 2.1 version of the bios from Gigabyte and use the DSDT that is in the forum
2. Try to use the Existing DSDT with my version of the BIOS
3. Try to extract my DSDT and apply patches to get a DSDT (This appears to be difficult.)

Why is this motherboard not in the DSDT database? Is there something unusual about it, like that it may not need a DSDT at all?

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Version 2.2 of the motherboard has UEFI bios. This has been a major game changer as most users will not use a DSDT for their build.

Thank You for your response. I am thrilled!

It would be nice if there were a list of what motherboards have UEFI. I saw that the GA-H61M-S1motherboard docs state that it has "Use of licensed AMI EFI BIOS". Is that what you should look for in the documentation? Is there any difference between UEFI and EFI?

All new motherboards released in 2013 appear to be UEFI instead of traditional bios type. Gigabyte have not updated the full description on a few of the older boards, but the picture clearly shows on the bottom left front of the box UEFI bios on the v2.2 version of this board.
Checking the downloads - the bios versions are in double letter description to differentiate from other versions and all bios versions are from early 2013.

Adrian,

You were absolutely correct about the UEFI BIOS on the motherboard for the GA-H61M-S1. It installed and booted Mavericks easily. Of course I did try to select all of the parts for compatibility first because it was my first hack build.

I am thrilled that you are happy with your new build. Enjoy

Just updated to 10.9.1 with no problems without erasing my data ;p

Hey Sthem,

Thank you very much for posting your success with GIGABYTE GA-H61M-S1.

I would like to know multibeast installation for GIGABYTE GA-H61M-S1 motherboard. I have ordered it from newegg website.

I am planning to build a Customac mini with minimum budget with the following parts

GIGABYTE GA-H61M-S1
CPU i3 2105 3.1 GHz
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
PNY Optima SSD7SC240GOPT-RB 2.5" 240GB SATA III SSD
Targus Bluetooth Adapter
WiFi Module to PCIexpress slot.

Please let me know the multibeast.....

I also like to know the mother board takes 1333 MHz, but I have 1600 MHz RAM, is it compatible.
It looks like your build is also 1600 Mhz RAM.

I appreciate your help.
