Hello everyone I am helping my friend build a hackintosh. While we want this thing to run we are also working on a budget. I have browsed the forums and seen some people have had some success with motherboards with the p45 chip-set. I was wondering if I would be able to use a gigabyte EP45-UD3L motherboard. If it helps the processor I am trying to use is an intel q8300.

Basically, Yes.

However, you may need to dig around a bit if you want a nice DSDT (assuming Tony has not got one already), or do a bit of your own edits.

As you may have seen, there's much info over on "insanely", but perhaps not very recent.

I presume this is a board+proc that is already owned, so not actually buying anything?

If not, then for just a tiny amount more... (or perhaps not any more, depending on where you live and buy from!) you could upgrade to the iSeries (eg: i5-750).
