My computer freezes up entirely a split second after playing certain videos in Safari or Twitterrific. All I have to do to consistently trigger that is to open up Twitter in Safari and scroll down until an autoplaying video begins, and the same happens in Twitterrific.

This isn't something that happens with all videos everywhere; Youtube in Safari and any video in Firefox works fine. The same result happens when I unplug USB devices, but I'm assuming that's a separate problem for now.

Specs:
  • Intel i5-4670
  • Gigabyte GA-H81M-HD3
  • Nvidia GTX 970

Looking through similar threads, I saw this response by RehabMan detailing what to do for desktop HD4600 processors (which my GPU is according to ARK), and I believe I've done all of those; I've attached a dump from install_tools that should confirm this. (That won't include BIOS settings - according to the BIOS, DVMT memory is set to "MAX", Intel GPU memory is set to 64MB (though I don't think that's relevant) and VT-d is disabled.)

I'm out of ideas and could use some help. Thank you!

I forgot to mention that the OS I've installed is High Sierra 10.13.6
