Hi there,

I'm thinking about to replace my 2009 cMP with a Custom Mac build.
Actually I did some build's in the past... with mixed results.

In the past my use case was manly software development. Since I have a small youtube channel, I'm woking with Final Cut Pro X and my requirements have changes.

I switched to open core and Catalina with my cMP and activated GPU acceleration... and BruceX Benchmark results are looking quit good. (around 16 seconds) But overall the system doesn't feel that snappy and fast as I would like.

I did some research on what hardware give the best performance for FCPX... and the result is:
-T2 chip (not available on CustomMac)
-QuickSync (available on Intel Core i CPUs with integrated GPUs)
-Metal Performance (... an AMD GPU)

I'm wondering if there is a possebility to get AMD Hardware acceleration and QuickSync activated at the same time on a Custom Mac. Most tutorials suppose to deactivate the iGPU in order to get AMD Hardware acceleration.

And what hardware you would suggest to use for a FCPX Custom Mac?
(I already have some AMD GPUs like RX470-4GB and RX570-8GB laying around here)
And can I expect better performance in comparison to my 2009 cMP?

Specs:
-Xeon X5680
-3 * 16 GB DDR3-1333 RDIMM
-RX570-8GB
-2TB Intel P660 NVME Drive
-Custom Fan-Control & Noctua Fans
-OpenCore + Catalina + iMac Pro like AMD Hardware Acceleration...

Thank's alot for any help!

Sören
