I always recommend a Mac for a laptop, and if iMac/Mac Mini/Mac Pro suit your needs, for desktops too.
I'd hesitate to say which laptop would make a great Hackintosh because nobody makes a better laptop than Apple. Bar none. Build quality is phenomenal, and price to performance stacks up ok against Dell/HP offerings for sure.

Also, if price is an issue, be sure to check out Apple's Refurb store- certified and reconditioned to be better than new- retested. No scratch/dent here. And a lot of times they include RAM upgrades free. I've seen white MacBooks there for $699.
Apple Certified Refurbished- Laptops
Fast, free shipping on all refurbished products. We test and certify all Apple refurbished products and include a 1-year warranty.

Meomy said:Guys, have you considered getting a manufacturer to custom build you a laptop/notebook (such as Pioneer Dreambooks)? Take this into consideration next time you decide to hand over your cash/"legal tendor" to Apple (which we all know is never as powerful compared to PC alternatives).
No, I have yet to do this myself, but I will next time I do get a new laptop/notebook.
Is this statement your opinion or can you provide empirical data to back it up?Meomy said:Apple (which we all know is never as powerful compared to PC alternatives)
Plus Lenovo Thinkpads are nothing like the original IBM ones...GMT+7 said:I've been a Thinkpad user for 7 years, and I know what a good build quality laptop like.
If I would buy a new laptop, I'd go for MBP since the price are really the same. Plus I'm so in love with the OS X.
