Dear friends:
Like many of us, I have several AC-to-DC 12V and 5V "wall warts" powering a variety of things: USB hubs, KVM switchers, sound systems et'c. It's a bit of clutter and it takes up a lot of outlet real estate. But I have a proposed solution.
I haven't talked this over with an electronics engineer (who just happens to be related to me), but I think it would make sense to condense all of the DC external PSUs to one unified PSU. Say, those three PSUs each 5V, all adding up to 3.5A, could be replaced with one 5V/5A PSU with the necessary connectors.
i ask you , before I ask my brother: is this a stupid idea, or is it genius? I've got a poll running...
