My Asus k52jr laptop has a Atheros 9285 half size mini pci wifi card. It worked fine with 10.8.2, but since doing the 10.8.5 combo update, it will now only connect to my router if I use WEP. Does anyone know of a solution?

Make sure you have not tampered with IO80211Family.kext and IONetworkingFamily.kext. There is no reason to modify these kexts.

Then see here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/network/104850-guide-airport-pcie-half-mini-v2.html.

All you need is to install toledaARPT.kext.

Yeah, I read thru that , tried installing it, but same problem. Guess I can try to find the original kexts you mentioned, install them, then install the toledo kext again? Any idea where I can get the original unmodified kexts for 10.8.5?

Unmodified kexts are on your 10.8.5 Unibeast USB. Or if you do a fresh install...
