I have 2 SSDs. Yosemite 10.10.4 and Mavericks 10.9.4. Both boot perfectly.
I would like to copy the Mavericks disk to a new partition on the 1st SSD (Yosemite).

I resized the Yosemite partition, and added a second partition.
I then used CCC to copy the Mavericks disk to the new partition on the 1st SSD.
All completed well and when I reboot, the partition is recognized and starts to boot but hangs.

I'm confused. How can the Mavericks disk boot so beautifully by itself, but the clone not flly boot? It's all on one system.

I booted from the Mavericks disk, and ran multibeast for the Mavericks system against the new partition hoping that would make a difference. It did, only not what I expected. The Yosemite partition now boots in 10 seconds instead of 85 seconds, as it should have.

I've spent a day and a half trying to figure this out, so obviously, I'm not understanding something. Is there an explanation of what the boot loaders actually do or an explanation of what I'm doing wrong?

Any ideas on this?

Thanks,
Rob

are you sure you made the clone bootable?
