As ive said this has been extremely frustrating because i need this computer for school if anybody could help me fix this id happily throw a thank you tip your way on paypal thanks again for any thoughts

Edit: I am still experiencing random freezes, and the suggestions below haven't helped. Here's another thread which seems to describe something similar – http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...-have-some-random-freeze-since-mavericks.html

~~~
Original post:
I think you're describing the same problem I've been struggling with the past few days. After installing Yosemite I found that my computer would freeze and reboot every few hours, randomly, and there was nothing in the Console to suggest anything was wrong. We have similar hardware – Ivy Bridge chips and Kepler graphics cards – but I'm not sure if that's significant. I'm also using Clover. Oh, and we're also both using iMac13,2 system IDs.
Anyway I've managed to solve it by changing a few things:
1. I removed my patched DSDT from Clover/ACPI/patched. This had been working fine with Mavericks but it's apparently incompatible with 10.10. If you're using a DSDT file try deleting it and running OSX without one. If you aren't using a patched DSDT file you may need to compile one now. This seems to have been the main cause of my random reboots.
2. I disabled all Audio injection in the Clover config, removed the audio kext edits (under KernelAndKextPatches) and got rid of the realtekALC.kext from the 10.10 kexts folder. This stuff is of course related to the DSDT problem.
3. I also removed CsmVideoDxe.efi from Clover/drivers64UEFI, and changed the CSM settings in my motherboard's UEFI BIOS to 'Auto'. I don't think this had much effect, but I wasn't being very methodical when troubleshooting and so I can't be sure that changing the Compatibility Support Module settings helped solve the issue. So: if deleting/remaking your DSDT doesn't work, try this.
4. Set 'PatchVideoBios' to NO in Clover's config.plist (it's in the 'Graphics' section). Again, not sure if this was the culprit.
5. You could also disable 'Intel Virtualization Technology' in your motherboard's BIOS, or leave it enabled and add 'dart=0' to your boot flags. This is probably not the cause of the freezing but worth checking nevertheless.
Can't remember what else I messed with, but I'm now free of random reboots. I think it's the DSDT – Yosemite might be handling hardware addresses differently to its predecessors and this is causing problems for Z77-based boards. I am not an expert, as you can probably tell.
If none of the suggestions above work for you, upload your config.plist (and maybe your DSDT) so we can have a look and see if anything's wrong with it.
Scratch all that, this is still happening to me. Random freezes occurring anywhere between 15 minutes to a few hours after boot.
I managed to diagnose it as a cpu issue it seems that it causes the reboot when multiple cores of the cpu are being utilized I've managed to stop the reboots with the boot flag cpus=1 while this isn't the best solution as it limits you to one cpu core at least it will stop the reboots until something can be figured out to fix the issue.
OK, thanks. I haven't found a solution yet, so I might give that a go. Definitely looks like a CPU-related problem.
I also have random reboot, more like a couple times a week on my iMac so its not just a mackintosh problem, if its fixed on the mac then it should be fixed on pc. Mine is a total fresh install on an SSD. It reboots, then a grey screen comes up after reboot saying your computer has encountered a problem and needed to start, press any key to restart, after I press a key it reboots again.
I've done the same as you, set cpus=1 at the momet seems to work fine, any restart. Later I'll try to play with the Bios, I'm gonna disable EIST option to see whats going on
After extensive testing (i.e. plugging and unplugging cables, removing the GPU and wireless card, cursing) I'm feeling fairly confident that my issue has something to do with flash drives and external hard disks connected by USB3. I have an ExFAT-formatted pen drive which was definitely causing trouble: freezes and reboots always happened within 10 minutes of connecting this drive. Same behaviour with another HFS+ Seagate drive. Might be something to do with the Z77 chipset's XHCI implementation. I probably need to change some of the EHCI and XHCI settings in the BIOS.
This obviously doesn't bear any relation to your cpus=1 fix. Has that definitely worked for everyone in this thread?
I'm having the exact same problem, and while I can't offer a solution yet, I'm 99% sure that the problem has something to do with the ALXEthernet driver. When I'm using Wi-Fi (no ethernet cable connected), my machine works perfectly. As soon as I connect the ethernet cable I get the exact same issues described in the post. My error report (which BTW specifically mentions that driver) looks exactly like Schlaricagol's.
I'm running Yosemite with Clover. I did not have that problem with Mountain Lion and Unibeast.
Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks!
Good catch! The driver of ALXEthernet has a problem, especially when you upload something.
Take a look at the report, we have the same thing here. Any fixes yet?
