Hi!
I don't know what to search for unfortunately, so if anyone can give me a hint it would be very appreciated!
The problem is as follows - I built a hackintosh (desktop) a couple of years ago and now I want to upgrade the OS from El Capitan to Sierra or newer due to lacking program compatibilty. The problem is that my computer identifies as a Mac Pro 2008 (and my old laptop I used to download El capitan is a 2008 Macbook pro) and app store has decided that is a too old model to be able to handle sierra... The hardware is good enough but the identifier isn't... Is there a way to backtrack this and let it identify as a newer model? Is there a step in the installation where I could have made it identify differently (so I don't make the same mistake once more)? If there is a choice - perhaps I can make a new hackintosh (my wife's laptop is just lying there...calling for me) identify it as a newer model, download sierra and update my main rig?
