Motherboard
MSI X-58 Pro E Series
CPU
2.68 GHz Intel Core i7
Graphics
GeForce GTS 250 1024 MB
Mac
  1. iMac
Mobile Phone
  1. iOS
I am currently using a Windows 8.1 machine that I assembled a couple of years ago but wanted to experiment with a Hackentosh build on a separate boot SSD using a duel boot configuration. I have looked extensively on the boards for any information on my MOBO and processor and have not been able to find as much information as I would like for me to start the process of building the Hackentosh.

I currently have the following:

ASRock Z77 Extreme6 MOBO
AMI Bios 2.80
Intel i5-3570 3.4 GHz processor
EVGA GeForce GT630 1GB Video Card
16 GB RAM

It seems to me that ASRock is not very compatible with the OS X and to truthful, I don't want to mess around with my BIOS too much and possibly screw up my current system. From what I have read, I think I could load Lion for sure and possibly go further but am worried that I will run into problems with audio, video, network drivers.

Any comments and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

Share exact model numbers (EG: Audio: ALC888, Ethernet : RTL8101E)

Sorry.

Audio: ALC898
Network: BCM57781

thanks

Sorry.

Audio: ALC898
Network: BCM57781

thanks
ALC898 support is available in multibeast, while performing post installation, you can select the option under "Drivers==>Audio==>Realtek ALCxxx==>ALC898"

For BCM57781, you have to install appropriate version of kext matching to your OS X. You can install the kext with the help utilities like Kext Wzard, Kext Utility, etc.
