My mother had enough of Windows and bought a 27" 4K Mac; this system was never going to be used again so I bought an i7 3770 to replace the original i3 3220. I threw in the SSD for the OS, Blu-ray burner, spare memory (2x2GB) and had a spare MSI 9400GT 1Gb Silent GFX card, so I used it as well. Initially, this system was just to play with OS X, just like the build this is replacing (Q6600-GA-G41M-COMBO). To my delight, I still have the option to run OS X (even if sound isn't supported). I've been trying the OS for 3+ weeks which is the most I've ever done and am enjoying it more than I'd have thought.

Installation Notes

I used the latest UniBeast and created the USB installer on the Mac. SSD connected to SATA1 (SATA0 is windows10 SSD). I followed the Guide here to the letter. My memory is a little hazy as it's been a few weeks since installing El Capitan, but I did have to start the installation from the motherboard's vga port. After that it was simple enough to change the BIOS Video output setting to PCIe by default and only needed nvenabled=yes. I think I was able to successfully boot into the OS from here.

Sound isn't working VT1708S doesn't work for me and I'm not gonna fight it, I'll get a usb external sound card and that's all my issues sorted. I'm simply not experienced enough to diagnose/troubleshoot.

Bios Settings

Reset to Default, VT set to off, fastboot off, Security/OS set to Other (from windows). I disabled COM ports/LPT1 as I don't use them.

Installation

MultiBeast:
My MultiBeast profile file is corrupt, don't know if Clover had any say. I used all the basic selections as per the guide, I don't think there was much at all. Realtek 8111, Voodoo didn't work and that was basically it.

Clover settings is overwhelming me, I see it has darkwake enabled
(currently in windows atm)
