Can I check somewhere what kind of connector is used for the display?

As I said in the beginning, this laptop is completely different to all machines I had before.

Ok. I've booted the Vaio from an external Win 7 ssd.

Regarding the display adapter properties it says that the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter is used.

Is there somewhere an entry to identify the interface?

It means you forgot to install the Intel graphics drivers for HD4000.

OK. Than it was the wrong SSD. Sorry. I'll take the win version from my T430. This one has also an bild in HD4000

Ok. Got it. But where can I see the used interface?

It is in the Information panel in the Intel graphics applet software (look in the system notification icon area... lower right).

Found it and the interface (German: Verbindungstyp) is:

Integrated Display Port

Well... and now?

Is there a chance to get the brightness control working? Are there other ig-platform-id for this interface to make it possible?

eDP is not supported in the HD4000 drivers (I guess no Macs use eDP).
There may be a way to enable backlight control for non-LVDS connectors (eg. framebuffer patching), but I don't know of any published method.

Hey Rehabman,
thanks for your patience and help to figure out the specs of my machine.

I will/have to proceed here. If I come along with a solution for this specific problem, I'll provide it to the community. Thanks again!!
