Re: Adding Additional ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.7.0

I get this in terminal:

ATI Barts AMD Radeon HD 6870 Series 1024MB (Duckweed) [1002:6738] (subsys [174b:174b]):: PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x3,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)

I have dual monitor, so I use GE=yes. It works through display port and DVI. When I put GE=no both DVI work but I lose powerpoint,... etc. Oh I also use Chimera 1.5.4, cause when I install 1.7.0 system fails to start.
Is there a way to make both dvi work without losing powerpoint? Should I use any framebuffer in chameleon boot plist?

You have to type bdmesg into terminal and tell him your cards code.

There should be a line like AMD Radeon HD 6850 Series 1024MB [1002:6739] (subsys [nnnn:nnnn]) (Barts:Duckweed)

Post that one HERE so he can add your card to the list.

hello I cant see anything in terminal ;( i get this codes in DPCI MANAGER

1002:6738 ATI Technologies Inc ERROR: Unknown Device

1002:aa88 ATI Technologies Inc ERROR: Unknown Device

How do you mean that 'anything'? O_O? Could you post a screenshot of your terminal output, please?
Have you installed Chimera? Bdmesg won't work without it.

For your working DVI and other ports try AtiPorts=X, where X is equal to the number of graphic ports your card has. (AtiPorts only works when you have a working frame buffer loaded.)

Powerpoint requires full acceleration of a working frame buffer, so it can't work without GraphicsEnabler.

Of course, you can try the frame buffers in chameleon listed for your card there! AtiConfig is the command, just in case you need it. ;)

Please let us know should you find a working frame buffer.

Re: Adding Additional ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.7.0

I have the exact same problem as lukin. Also on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74) with current and Latest Chimera build 1.7.0. My DVD Player crashes with error: There was an initialization error. "A valid video device could not be found for playback. [-70017]".

My system is vanilla Lion 10.7.2 all updates from Apple's software update. I've modified only 2 files. The ATI6000Controller.kext and ATIRadeonX3000.kext. I've added "0x68BA1002" to the info.plist in both files. I have full 1920x1200 all ports are working on the card and I can switch to any resolution. QE/CI seems to be the only missing component.

Question with Chimera build 1.7.0 do I need to have ATI6000Controller.kext and ATIRadeonX3000.kext modified?

Chimera build 1.5 bdmesg did detect my graphics card but no frame buffer.

I noticed you are having both AtiConfig and EFIString for your card in your plist. Why? You should only need one of the both (In theory).

Hi!

Yes, just the player, and the identification card on the system.

I am comparing to the example of his friend, on this post:

With Chimera 1.7, the 5450 is FULLY supported, EVERYTHING works !
I installed Chimera, deleted my E/E folder, switched GraphicEnabler=Yes, rebooted and it was done. DVD player works and the card is recognized as 5450 :D
ScreenShot2011-12-20at121728.png

I'm intrigued as to follow step by step and can not get the same result, because I have the same video card.

Still have not tested the HDMI output, or use programs that require even the correct framebuffer, then the hd5450 will run perfectly, as the machine Badaboum03 friend.

Thank you!

Check your org.chameleon.boot.plist in Extra-folder for GraphicsEnabler=Yes or No. As long as you haven't typed it in at boot and it's missing in this file it's automatically a "No".
