I have exactly this issue with the battery status indicator from post #1 of this thread
http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...clevo-w670szq-system76-kudu-professional.html
My battery is new and lasts a good few hours running Ubuntu, so a faulty battery is not the problem.
Unplugged: IOReg shows the totally wrong amperage 0xFFFF.
The battery status percent does not change unless I uncheck/check "Show battery status in menu bar" in the Energy Saver dialog.
Plugged in: The percent climbs slowly and the Amperage looks reasonable (typical values: 0xf2a,0x720, 0x6e2. I guess this is in units of mA).
I didn't need to change anything in EmbeddedController in DSDT.
I did, however apply the patches for GFX rename and OS Check to the DSDT.

- Battery Working (though the icon is almost always red and the percentage doesn't move, the percentage in HWMonitor and system preferences does hence why I disabled the icon and have the percentage being displayed next to HWMonitor's icon in the taskbar).
