Clean Install with restore from Time Machine

Hello,

Does anyone knows if it is possible to do an clean install and after that to restore applications ONLY from a Lion time machine backup ? I dont want to re-install all my apps from scratch...

Yes it is possible. I installed ML GM on a separate hard drive and then migrated the applications and settings from my Lion drive and it worked

Did you use Time Machine to migrate the apps & settings or did you use something else, such as migration assistant?

Sorry newb - trying to figure out the best way to do backups.

I've used the migration assistant from Mountain Lion to get my Lion config, but it's now all messed up.
I'm going to reinstall tomorrow

I ended up purchasing a hard drive duplicator http://www.amazon.com/Aluratek-External-Portable-Duplicator-AHDDUB100/dp/B002FJJMAI and it succeeded in creating a bootable backup.

Also I tried out Carbon Copy Cloner & has success with that as well.

Now I can update and tweak with much less stress
