Cheapest compatible video card for QHD monitor

I would like to upgrade to a 2560x1440 monitor, but my integrated Intel HD 4000 supports resolutions up to 1920x1200. What is the cheapest video card i can get to support QHD resolution? I don't care about 3D/gaming performance, i play league of legends once every while, and the HD 4000 is already overkill for that.

I would get GTX 650 Ti from the used marketplace (eBay) for about $50-$60 USD. I have several, and they drive a 27" Dell U2711 at 2460x1440 (I think that's the resolution).

I am using that resolution just fine on HD4000 but it is only supported over DisplayPort.

Sadly, i don't have Displayport on my z77-ds3h, and the spec sheet clearly states that the maximum resolution available on the DVI and HDMI connectors is 1920x1200. :/

I have found some decent priced Geforce GT 740s: do the brand or quantity and type of memory matter regarding compatibility? Or am i safe picking the cheapest one? (this one http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=01G-P4-3742-KR , about 70€)

You've probably solved this already, but here's my $.02.

I had the same situation with my GA-Z77N-wifi. If your not gaming, a Nvidia GT 210 or GT 240 will work. They both display 2560x1440 just fine, and they're dirt cheap. For use with inDesign & and normal web stuff, I saw no difference between them and the internal graphics built into the Ivy Bridge chip. But if your going to do any amount of gaming, you'll want something better. I just got a GTX 760 on eBay for $105. That's a lot of card for the $.
