Cheapest build possible.

Hi,

i need your advice on building cheapest build possible. Only one requirement - fullhd mkv rips without any glitches (40 inches TV connected to this computer all the time).

I was thinking about old platform like this:

CPU: E2180/E5200/E8400 - very cheap nowadays
GPU: GA-EP35-DS3L
RAM: 4GB DDR2
GPU: 8800GT/9800GTX - very cheap

Every part will be second hand and used, i'm cutting on prices as much as i can.

What i already have: PowerMac G5 case ( ), HDD and PSU.

Can i run 10.7 on this build? I know it's not sandy bridge, but i simply don't need it, it's only for movies, music and internet.

NO GAMES at all, got x360 for this.

Thanks, i knew i can install 10.5 and 10.6 on this, because i already had builds like this, just had no idea about newest 10.7.

On another note a 4870 is not exactly cheap (and not energy bill friendly, too, lo!).

The only reason i'm asking about 4870 is because i can get a really good price for it. I can buy 9800gt and 4870 for the same price (both used), so i guess it's quite simple, which one i would choose.

Get the 4870. Just got one from new egg last week works great no problems. Was the last piece of the puzzle for me.

4870 is hit and miss, stick with the 5xxx serious or early nvidia 8800+.

Bah, too late - this 4870 already got sold. I will just stick with 9800GTX then Got it in 3 of my different builds already, always worked like a charm ;]

Already got fully working 10.7.2 on:

E5200
GA-EP45-DS3L
4GB DDR2
HD6570

Radeon 6570 is working OOTB, but i need to change it anyway to something with more power
