I would like to replace my stock Intel CPU with a quieter fan. I'm not planning on overclocking really so it doesn't need to be high end. I'd just like it to be less noisy.

I noticed a bunch of you guys with quad cores are using the Scythe Mugen II. Would this be overkill for me? I would like to get something cheaper if possible. What about the Scythe Shuriken?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers

I LOVE the Mugen-2 Rev.B...
I'm not overclocking, picked it just for the silence...

The Shuriken is small, but the BigShuriken should be OK...
For its price, though, I'd skip it and jump directly on the Mugen-2 (unless you have case limitations).

If you aren't overclocking than most anything with a 120mm fan should be quiet.

A 90mm fan should be much quieter than the stock fan too.

Find what you can get, then do a search on tests if you really care. There are a lot of CPU cooler test out there.
