Can't upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite, boots back in Mavericks

I'm trying to update to Yosemite from Mavericks (10.9.5) via the Appstore. When I click 'install Yosemite', I go through the initial T&C's and install prompts etc then the system restarts and boots back into Mavericks without installing anything and no error messages. Any ideas what could be causing this?

System specs:

Gigabyte Z87X-D3H
i7 4770k
16GB Corsair Vengeance
Nvidia GTX560Ti

Which boot-loader are you using?
You can only do an AppStore upgrade using Clover I believe.
If you're using Chimera you will have to make a new unibeast USB installer.

There are step by step guides on this site how to upgrade to Yosemite.

I have no idea, how do I find out? I've had no problems updating through the appstore before.

Your not using clover.

Minor upgrades (10.10.1 to 10.10.20 can be done vi app store, major upgrades (10.9 to 10.10 Mavs to Yosemite) need new Unibeast when using chimera.

Taking note to skip step 6 as thats only for a new install and you want to upgrade.
