I'm following the directions to install Lion per the blog post.

I'm getting stuck - in disc utility I can't make a 8 GB partition. There is 17GB free on my SL drive, but disc utility will only let me make a 2.25 GB partition.

I assume it's because my 17 GB isn't all in one area of the drive. Is there a 'defrag' or something that will let me consolidate the free space on my SL drive so I can make the partition?

THanks
Nick

Do you have a 2nd drive to work with. I put my install partition on a second drive.
I was unable to make an 8GB partition on my backup drive, it would only let me do 50GB partition. Fortunately, I had space on that drive.

If your SL drive is an SSD, it should never be defragmented according to information I have found on line.

Also, the system tries to keep some disc space for working.
