I used UniBeast 3.0.1 on a MBP to create a bootable USB Stick from Mavericks 10.9.2 download from the App Store. When I boot from the stick it shows me following error:

can't perform kext scan: no kext summary.

My hardware
  • Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3
  • Graphics Card: ASUS Nvidia GeForce GTX760 DC2OC
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 4670

I've tried pretty much every BIOS/UEFI settings combination I've found in the forum and also tried 3 different USB sticks.

Any ideas what I could try?

Reset your BIOS to optimised default - Then disable VT-d.

Remove the GTX760 and connect your monitor to the DVI connector on your motherboard - VGA is not supported.

Boot with -v -x

Good Luck

Removed the card and disabled VT-D

Tried with following options:
  • without flags
  • -x
  • GraphicsEnabler=NO
  • GraphicsEnabler=NO dart=0

The Error message I get now is:

Unabled to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist

removeSymbol com.deepseasoftware.driver.CDSDAudioCaptureSuppo...

After that I installed the card again and I have the exact same error. When using an old 10.8 Stick I can install. It seems to have problem just with 10.9.2.

Type Unable to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist into the Search box on this page.

Good Luck

I did this search many times already, but none of the Bootflags posted in those threads nor disabling/enabling VT-D does help.

Just noticed GraphicsEnabler=NO

Are you aware that boot flags are case sensitive ?

It's GraphicsEnabler=No not GraphicsEnabler=NO

A minor thing but it makes a difference.

Good Luck

Edit :

Try GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=1 dart=0

Thank you very much P1LGRIM. I finally got it installed with following procedure:

  • BIOS: Load optimized defaults
  • Disable VT-D
  • GraphicsEnabler=NO and maxmem=4096

I don't know why the installer has troubles with the amount of memory in my system (32 GB), however, limiting it to 4 Gigs during installation helped.
