Thanks for your guide tony. I think I'm missing a step or something, though... After creating the USB drive (UniBeast says it created it successfully), I go to boot from it to install and it says "Can't find /System/Library/Kernels/kernel". Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm running an ASRock Z87E-ITX.

I am getting the same message upgrading from Yosemite on my GA-Z77X-UP5 TH build running BIOS version 11.
 
I had the very same issue. It was due to BIOS security parameter that was only allowing Windows UEFI. I changed to OtherOS and it boot successfully.

I would advise to check your BIOS setup.
