Hi,

Since i installed my new mobo & CPU i can't boot into SL without using the "busratio=20 cpus=1" command.
Apparently for some other guys with the same hardware it works fine.

I really don't know how to fox that. Is this a bad kext, a bad DSDT file, or else ?
I don't know.

If some people here with or without this problem can help me, this would be much much appreciated !!

thx

Can you post the plist files from your /Extras folder? Same mobo and CPU and I've never run into the issue.

too bad i'm not in front of my computer right now...
i'll post it in approximately 4-5 hours...

thank you

Can you list the kext files you have in /Extra?

You already have the busratio set in your boot plist so why you would have to manually type it to be able to boot is a strange one.

Make sure you have a working backup of your system and try the boot plist I'm attaching. It works fine for my system.

Your other plist file has arguments for your system memory in it. I'm curious where those came from / why?

in Extra i have :
- EVOenabler
- fakesmc
- IOATAFamily
- JMicronATA
- NullCPUPowerManagement (i thought it would solve my CPU problem)
- SleepEnabler

I set the busratio in com.apple.Boot.plist not to have to type it each time i boot. that's why it' "hard coded" in the file.

For the memory arguments i don't know why, that's true... I didn't edited this file myself except to put my CPU number in SMCPUtype.

Anyway... in your file there isn't the busratio argument, so i can't boot.
I only see the Apple logo for a microsecond, and then it reboot. No matter what i enter, -v / -x / -s / -f etc...
My system can only boot if i enter "busratio=20" and "cpus=1".
I tried cpus=2, cpus=4 but it didn't worked.

I'd swap the ATI card out for an Nvidia even just temporarily to see if it's creating problems.

Attached screenshot of my /Extra folder. Other than what you need for the ATI card you should be able to get by with the same kexts I'm using. (Minus the NVEnabler64 Plus what you need for the ATA WD drive unless it's actually SATA)

The only other thing I can think of is that your DSDT is hosed somehow.

maybe i'l try to patch my DSDT myself.

Can you tell me witch software i need ?

I tried something else : reinstalling 10.6.3

April 12 i saw tony mac's method got update, and today a minor revision of the 10.6.3 update (v1.1) came out from apple.
I dowloaded it and installed it using the new tony's method (without reinstalling SL from scratch).

.. Same problem...
I thought sometime it was working, but after a while the system KPed...

here is the two screenshots i could make :

I really, really don't want to reinstall the whole system, but what can i do ?
