Can I have your advice on a laptop config for Lion?

Hi everyone. I'm Erken, and I just subscribed to the forum.

I'm thinking of buying a Zombie Processus Soul Reaper laptop (specs list: http://goo.gl/OUnBj) and install Lion on it. I checked on Apple's website and the new macbooks seem to have the same hardware, so I suppose I could install Lion out of the box? Can you tell me if I am correct?

The ZP Soul Reaper comes with:
an Intel HM65 motherboard
an intel i5 2410M or an intel i7 2630QM
an Intel HD 3000
4Gb 1066MHz DDR3-RAM
A Ralink RT3090 Wireless card
A 320Gb SATA drive

For that kind of money, just buy an Apple machine.


Hackintosh only really makes sense if you can build it for far cheaper and especially more so with desktops.

With a laptop its hard to know how well everything is going to work and its difficult and/or expensive to swap out parts for ones that do work. Plus power management/battery life/sleep and etc. can be tricky with a laptop.


Get an Apple machine instead.

Ah dammit, I thought that because of the basic hardware it would be easy to install Lion on it. I completely forgot about battery management, swapping parts for others etc... :?

Thanks for the advice! I guess I'll have to go for a Macbook then.
