Can anyone recommend me good cheap speakers?

I was able to get HDMI Audio to work on my build but it is a bit "staticy" on ML. So could anyone recommend me a good speakers on the cheap.

I have Harmon Kardon soundsticks. I like them. I think there about $160.

How can you get static on digital audio? That makes no sense at all.
And when it comes to good and cheap, the two words rarely if ever go hand in hand when it comes to speakers.
What is your budget and what kind of speakers are you looking for?
