Hello guys,

i would like to build a Computer for Gaming and Videoediting. Before bying i would like to know your opinion about the following build:

Intel® Core i5-6600K - 250€ (is it worth to buy a Intel® Core i7-6700K for 100€ more?)
Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 5-EU Mainboard (Rev.1.0) - 190€

Gigabyte GV-N960G1 GAMING-2GD PCIE3 NVIDIA Grafikkarte (PCI-e, 2GB GDDR5, HDMI 2.0, 3x Display Port, 2x DVI, 1 GPU) - 250€

Ballistix Sport LT 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) DIMM 288-Pin Memory - BLS2C16G4D240FSC (White) - 150€

ARCTIC Freezer 13 - Prozessorkühler mit 92 mm PWM Lüfter - CPU Kühler für AMD und Intel Sockel bis zu 200 Watt Kühlleistung - Multkompatibel- Mit voraufgetragener MX-4 Wärmeleitpaste - 25€

Of course i would like to save some money. So if you see some "Overkill-Stuff" then feel free to give me some advice on that. Thank you for your help.

Hey,
Did you build the computer with this configuration?

I would say your RAM is a bit overkill. I would only go with 16GB and put the money toward that i7.

And you might want to hold off awhile until you can get your hands on one of the newly released Nvidia GTX 1060's. They are $250 USD which will be roughly the cost of the card you picked out but is LOADS better. And even more efficient.

I am getting ready to put together my Dual boot this coming week. Just need to buy Graphics card. I am leaning towards GTX 980 Ti Hybrid 6G. Really would love to have Dual GTX 1080's but everything I am seeing is the new 10's aren't supported...Is there a way I can run 2 different cards? Like GTX1080 on PC Gaming then the 980 Ti Hybrid for Mac video editing?

I say his RAM is underkill. :D It's a matter of memory bandwidth saturation. IMO, the more the better. If he buys a kit of two modules now he may have problems later on if he adds an identical kit, or a kit from a different manufacturer. It's best to just get a single kit of 4 modules now so that he doesn't have problems later on. If he has his heart, and budget, set on 32GB, then it would be better to get 4x8G than 2x16G. IMO. Since he is working with video I would have added a HDD formatted with a 64K cluster size. Video editing (saving large files) lends itself to a larger disk cluster size (less fragmentation) but video encoding lends itself to an i7. IMO.

It's beyond my understanding, but I get the gist: http://video.stackexchange.com/questions/14656/why-processor-is-better-for-encoding-than-gpu
