Hi folks,

first of all, i´m glad to be a part of this community. It is very nice!
I try to build up a mac pro for work on videos, photos and audiomaterial.
I use Cubase with a lot of VSTs, Final Cut, Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Photoshop, Illustrator and stuff like that.
Basically my build up looks like the mac pro in the buyer´s guide:

Corsair Carbide 500R

Gigabyte Intel Z77 Dual Thunderbolt ATX Motherboard
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008LTB3QW/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=tonymacx86com-20

Intel Core i7-3770K
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007SZ0EOW/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=tonymacx86com-20

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007TG8QRW/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=tonymacx86com-20

SanDisk Extreme SSD 240 GB SATA 6.0 Gb-s
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006EKJ8UI/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=tonymacx86com-20

SEAGATE ST31000524AS Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YVAMJQ/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=tonymacx86com-20

These are the the parts which are recommended in the buyers guide.
I want 2 graphic card in my hackintosh

PYN Nvidia Quadro 4000
http://www.amazon.com/PNY-DisplayPort-Profesional-Graphics-VCQ4000MAC-PB/dp/B004CRS78O/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1362054781&sr=1-1&keywords=quadro+4000+mac

EVGA GeForce GTX 650 ti
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=EVGA+GeForce+GTX+650+ti

The Quadro 4000 as GPU and The GTX 650 ti as GUI in Resolve. I know i have to switch the connectors if i want to use the quadro 4000 in After Effects and Stuff like that. Any advice for a Monitor switch?
The Disc drive i chose:

LG BH10LS38
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B005SNHVWE/?tag=tonymacx8603-21

I know, blu ray doesn´t work in osx, but i can back up my data on windows. I guess that would be helpful
Last of all is the power supply:

Corsair Professional Series AX 750 Watt
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Professional-Watt-Modular-AX750/dp/B003PJ6QWE/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1362055490&sr=1-3&keywords=Corsair+Professional+Series++HX+750

Now my question is, will this build up works? I have 2 graphic cards in it an maybe i want to put an universal audio uad-2 pci-e card in it too. Is the power suply stron enough? Are both graphic cards supported? Any recommendations fo better parts i can put in it?
One last, maybe stupid question. Can i choose another case? Is there something i have to have an eye on it especially so that the part will fit in it or can i chose any case?

Sorry for that much questions. It is my first build and a lot of money for me, so i don´t want to mess it up.

Thanks for helping and best wishes

Mike

For an SSD only one SSD is worth its beans . . . Samsung 840 PRO - and ONLY the PRO model. Nothing touches it in speed or warranty. I waitied2-3 years while SSD technology matured before I made the swith.
============

Anandtech Review:

The performance and power characteristics of Samsung's SSD 840 Pro are as close to perfect as we've seen from any drive this generation. In all but a handful of benchmarks, the 840 Pro is the fastest consumer SSD we've ever tested. Even more important than its industry leading performance is the fact that the 840 Pro delivers great performance while remaining one of the lowest power SSDs to make it through our labs. Assuming the premature death of our review sample was a fluke and not indicative of a bigger issue, the 840 Pro could be the first drive in quite a while to offer the absolute best performance at power consumption levels that are notebook friendly.

I own 3 of these out of a total of 6 purchased. No other make comes close. I use a build similar to the one you're considering with one difference: 4TB Hitachi setup in 3 partitions.
With your SSD I suggest setting up 2 partitions, 10 gigs to store software you plan on installing. That way if you whack the start partition you can do a quick reinstall and reload the software from the SSD. The result the SSD becomes portable. My machine has an SSD dock so I can plug in various SSDs or notebook HDs with different OSes. In the past I;ve dualbooted OSX Winf or Linux Win etc etc. Using the dock I use small SSDs for other systems.

When Win7 sees a a GPT partition it prevents the use of boot loaders that write to the EFI. I own 3 copies of Windows but I like the boot loaders so I don't have to go through the dog and pony tricks that Microsoft enjoys making on its customers do.

Just my 2 Cents.

PS FCPX on Ivy Bridge has freezing issues. However, I've never had problems with any other NLE. Hopefully in 10.8.3 Apple will fix it!

Hi dakotaht,

thanks for the advice. Of course i want the best performing ssd available. I guess i switch to the Samsung 840 PRO like you said.
Can you tell me, if the powersupply is strong enough with 750W for the 2 graphic cards and maybe some more party when i operate under full load with a lot of programms?

I would suppose that would depend on the graphics cards? The 660TI requires two power cables whereas the old one required only one. IMHO the more power the better. I switched from buying the cheapest PSUs to the most expensive ones on the market: meaning they are gold or platinum. My hack has a 1200 watt OCZ ZX Series 1250W Fully-Modular 80PLUS Gold. My thinking was that somewhere down the road I may want to use a system board with dual Intel CPUs and this PSU should do the trick since it supports everything.

In regard to Samsung 840 Pro I went with Anandtechs recommendation...there's nothing as fast or as reliable on the market.

When I read Anand's review:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6337/samsung-ssd-840-250gb-review

That was the clincher. My cup runneth over with SSDs I have 4 Samsung 840 Pros, 2 Intel 540s (both Intel and Samsung have 5 year warranties) and 2 Corsair Forces GTs. The Hack has an SSD dock so I coldstart and put in an SSD then restart with whatever I set the SSD up for. The Gigabyte system board supports every dog and pony trick I've thrown at it.

For instance last week I looked for a free USB flash drive but all of the ones I own are in use. The latest download from Apple of Mountain Lion is a full version of 10.8.3 and I wanted to play with a fresh start on a different SSD. I have a number of class 10 16 gig SD cards that are not in use so I played with various SD card USB holders. One of them, the Kingston TravelLite SD/MMC Reader worked! By that I mean I used Unibeast to make a start disk on a class 10 SD card, plugged it into the Gigabyte motherboard and restarted. The darned thing started off an SD card! I learned the trick when setting up Windows 8 using the Microsoft USB utility to load the OS onto a flash drive. (that also worked)

Long story short I can keep a library of OS's to install on SD cards! I have 6 different OSes I use and this is a breakthrough for me. I ordered 2 more of these card reads from Amazon - just in case.
