I need to replace my aging Mac Mini (about 5 years old). I use it for photo management, music, programming, etc. - no gaming.

I was thinking of this build: Skylake Mac Mini Hackintosh
vs. buying a Mac OS compatible Intel NUC, such as the Intel NUC Kit NUC5i7RYH.

Thoughts about build vs. buy? I supposed if I build, I have much more control over the components. But some of those i7 boxes seem like a great deal.

Thanks.

If you come across a NUC you like, try putting the model number in the forum search engine and see if anyone has used it

Hello volcs0, I personally would go with a build. Like you said, you have more control of what goes in the system.

Hi, I prefer a Mini Hack, it is easier to configure and you have more control over all the devices than a NUC.
Rehabman has an excellent guide for the NUC, but he also reads the inconveniences.
I hope it helps you a little ...
