brightness control problem

Hi,
I'm using cinema display 23'' with gtx285

My brightness control bar doesn't effect and I can't change my brightness
how can I fix it?

Hmmm, neither of my displays even shows a brightness bar in System Prerferences......

Can you do it using the Menu directly on the display instead of the one in System Preferences?

Apologies, I wasn't clear.

Most if not all monitors have a MENU button on them, if you push it you can adjust the monitor parameters independent of the computer to which they are connected.

I wonder if the issue isn't that the OS thinks it is on a laptop? I only get those icons on my Mac G4 laptop when using the buttons on the physical keyboard to adjust brightness. NOT on my current desktop system or any other time I can recall on any real desktop Mac

I would ignore it as there probably something confusing the OS.....
