When following this guide I've been able to install OSX, get the 10.6.4 update working and boot without iBoot.

Getting to step 10 worked. I installed update 10.6.5 but after installing, when rebooting, my PC got stuck on booting (Apple logo & circle loading thing).

I added -v to check for any errors:

file.php

Got these:

file.php

file.php

Didn't think these were harmful
Until this showed up:

file.php

Zoomed out:

file.php

This is where it froze. Does nothing more after this.
I've followed up the guide step by step. Used a burned iBoot (latest version), made a bootable 8GB flash drive using TransMac on Windows.

Plugged in:
- HDD to install on
- DVD-RW
- One HD6950 (I had 2 in Xfire)
- USB with Leopard
- Mouse (Logitech G5 - USB)
- Keyboard (Logitech Wave - USB)
- Samsung P2270 Monitor (DVI)
- Ethernet cable

Unplugged all the rest

Specs:
Asus P6X58D-E
Intel i7 960 3.20Ghz
Sapphire HD6950

I hope I explained it well enough & I'd love to hear some suggestions from your side.
Thanks a lot!

You may need to start at zero again and get the system stable to where you boot from the main drive - If you need to go to the nest update you need to run the easybeast or userdsdt selection again along w the system utiulites after any update you do...

Then you can run MultiBeast for the audio and network again or later (next reboot) - just make sure that you always run the system utilties again.

As to being able to see the halt or KP you can use some additional switches
-v for verbose
-f for cache clear
acpi=off turns off powermanagement for cpu.

You may want to look at this URL for ideas
http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/05/boot ... ootloader/

I have also used the cpus=1 option when really in doubt

Along w the ones that Tony mentions in the iBOOT MultiBeast section on video settings

Also if you have a halt w PCI you may want to add this in boot options -IOPCIFamily Fix

Good luck

Oh god, I had no idea! Makes sense though...

I've started from zero multiple times (about 6) so it won't be any problem. Now, someone at insanelymac told me the 6950 isn't supported yet until Mountain Lion. As I hate to work on the low resolution I think it would be better to wait and install 10.8 when it's released.

Will it be possible to install 10.8 from scratch, without any previous OSX installations? Otherwise I'll install one now and just wait 'til I can upgrade & work on Windows in the meanwhile.

Thanks a lot!

HD 6950 is not supported in Snow Leopard and will never be and it doesn't work correctly in Lion.

You need to use a support card in you want to install OS X.
