Blu-Ray Drive Randomly Reads?

Hey guys, iv got a LG blu-ray drive which works perfectly, but it randomly starts to blink and essentially seems like it is trying to read whatever might be in the drive? Although, i have nothing in the drive, its empty. Any suggestions? thanks.

I have a similar problem with my Sony DVD-RW drive, which otherwise functions perfectly. I have only ever run Lion on this system.
