I can't get my computer to wake up from sleep. When I first installed Mountain Lion I could wake it, then after some time I started getting a black screen when I tried to wake the computer and I had to hold the power button to shutdown the computer. After installing Mavericks I could wake again the computer, but a little after it started failing again with the black screen. I have tried to ping my computer after the wake and it seems

My hardware specs:
  • GA-X58A-UD3R Ver 2.0 BIOS FF FH
  • Intel Core i7 930 (no overclocking)
  • 4x 2GB G.Skill F3-10600CL9S-2GBNT RAM
  • EVGA nVidia GTX 680 FTW LE

My software specs:
  • MultiBeast configuration attached
  • Custom DSDT attached
  • Custom smbios.plist attached

I also have another hard disk with a Windows partition.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

(I already have enables HPET in 64 bits mode in the BIOS)

I'm having the same wake/black screen problem, but I'm using the FH BIOS.
Also I cannot use the USB keyboard/mouse to wake the computer. I have to use the power button.

I suspect it's something to do with version 2 of Chimera.
My Mountain Lion (10.8.5) has the same wake/black screen problem if I use Chimera 2. It wakes without problems using Chimera 1.11.1. Unfortunately I cannot use 1.11.1 with Mavericks. The computer goes into an endless boot loop.

I've also tried using the Clover boot loader. I don't find it easy to use, but the computer wakes perfectly.
This would seem to confirm that something in Chimera 2 is causing the problem.

Is it possible to use Chimera 1.11.1 with Mavericks?
Thanks for your help.

My hardware specs:

Intel Core i7 950 (no overclocking)
6GB (3x2GB) Corsair XMS3 Classic, DDR3
Sapphire Technology Radeon HD 5770 Vapor-X

Sorry, I also have the FH version. Is just that I used the FF for a long time.

I tried changing the boot loader to Chameleon but still I get the same problem.

Thanks for the reply.
I did a fresh UniBeast 3.0.1/MultiBeast 6.0.1/Chimera 2.2.1 install - same wake from sleep problems.

Solution for black screen after wake:
I ran MultiBeast 6.0.1 again and changed Customize/System Definitions to iMac 12,2 (from Mac Pro 3,1).
I've always used 3,1, but I found the 12,2 solution with Google.
vraiment - I hope it works for you.

Solution for no USB keyboard/mouse after wake:
I ran MultiBeast 6.0.1 again and installed Drivers/Misc/USB 3.0 - Universal by Zenith432.
This didn't solve the problem - UNTIL I moved my USB keyboard and mouse to the lowest sockets on the GA-X58A-UD3R Ver 2.0 (next to the Ethernet socket).

I've done a few more installs and I've finally got it working with Chimera v2.2.1 - I hope.
I found various ideas using Google.

FRESH INSTALL
USB keyboard in top USB slot (next to firewire).
BIOS fg1 - Someone on a Windows forum said that this was the most stable for Sleep/Wake and that FH was poorer.

Load optimized defaults
XMP Profile1
Extreme
Then the recommended BIOS settings EXCEPT I DISABLED USB 3.

Unibeast 3.0.1
MultiBeast 6.0.1 (MacPro 3,1 and Chimera v2.2.1)
I then checked that GenericUSBXHCI.kext was NOT installed in DRIVE/System/Library/Extensions.

System Preferences/ Energy Saver/Put hard disks to sleep whenever possible - NOT ticked.

The first sleep/wake gave the black screen.
I then added GoogleDNS to System Preferences/Network/Ethernet/Advanced/DNS
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
These replaced the default numbers.
Not sure what changing the DNS did, but the Black screen problem disappeared after rebooting. It might have been a coincidence.

Also - Changing the DNS usually helps the Finder Delay problem many users have noted. See my reply in this thread:

So, I did nothing, just updated the drivers with MultiBeast, and BUM! wake works. No need for BIOS changes or DNS or anything. I removed the old Realtek Driver and run kext wizard (repair permissions, rebuild cache).

I'm using FF BIOS with my own custom DSDT.
