Best way to Clone HD?

So had a bit of panic today when thinking my boot drive my have died, but lucky it came back. So thinking about replacing it - Samsung EVO 500.

If I want to back up right now (and wait on purchase of new EVO 500) ->

Can I use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the boot drive to an external HD and then clone from external HD back to new EVO 500?

best way is Time Machine as you migh succeed even when some bad blocks are not readable and there is a chance you will lose a file you do not need anyway.
CCC will need all the block to be readable
