My job fell through, and I now need a cheap solution to my i7-975. I am certain I will use all of my other components to their max, so I decided to cancel the 975 idea. So I am now looking for any advice on another processor to get, preferably less than 400 USD on Amazon, i7, and LGA 1366. Anybody have any suggestions for the best price/performance processor?

Thanks,

Tom

Get the i7-920 or i7-930. It's a good choice.

Or, on microcenter.com, they sell the i7-975x for 299

I am thinking about the 930.

Could you give me a link to that microcenter deal?

Microcenter deal is only available in store.

What are you doing that needs HyperThreading? Save a few bucks and get the i5.

Microcenter CPU deals are brick and mortor only typically.

The way I use my computers, it is a wonder that this laptop (Apple) can still type. No matter what computer I use, I run it to full capacity in under a day. In addition, I already have my motherboard, so I am stuck with an i7.

I don't care what the processor comes or doesn't come with, as long as it can be plugged into the CPU socket, and is the right model, I am already replacing every other component that would come in that box.
