My old 15" has died and I need to replace. I'd like to know what makes and models are the simplest to get a Mac OS on. I have two requirements; a HD 17" screen, and backlit keyboard. I do some 3D work so a good video card would be great too. Cost is less of an issue, but I do have a limit.

Sorry to suggest but have you considered the MacBook Pro 16? It is the "simpliest" and will have what you want. Outside that it's going to be an AMD-based laptop that is a bit harder to find (as most PCs seem to use NVIDIA.) Dell is easier I believe, but then I don't create a lot of Hack laptops.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure why you recommend AMD. I should have mentioned that an i7 was minimum processor. As for the MBP, I'm tired of over paying and getting underwhelming performance.

Are gaming laptops any more difficult. Weight and battery life is not an issue. I really didn't enjoy the last Macintosh I did and needed a bit of help from Rehabman just to get things usable, there were several issues that I just had to live with. Just looking for as smooth a conversion as possible and get back to work.

Sorry not AMD processor, GPU. It's harder to find a non-NVIDIA laptop I meant vs AMD graphics.

And yes gaming laptops are much harder as they are specialized for Windows. I still recommend for your use case a MacBook Pro 16.

This has an Nvidia gpu with it which i think is not supported in the current macOS.
Is that real? Is that only regards to Catalina? I'm curious because I've installed fresh previous macOS version on my half-working laptop where GPU work was the smallest issue :)

Nvidia GPUs only have drivers for High Sierra and below. So any laptop with an Nvidia GPU will not work under Mojave or Catalina.

I am also looking for a laptop that has good support from the community and that is not old/slow.
I am new to this community, but by exploring the forums I have found some options. I am interested in a 13-inch model so my research is based on that.
If there is someone with more experience in laptop/Hackintosh that could give us some recommendations I would appreciate it. :)

Have a look at the Thinkpad X270, 12.5 inch.

It has a lot more ports than the Dell 9360's x2 USB 3.0, Thunderbolt 3, miniDP (X270: Ethernet RJ45, SIM, SD, x2 USB 3.0, Thunderbolt 3, HDMI).

Same Intel Kaby Lake series.

The RAM is also not soldered on and is DDR4, compared to DDR3 in the Dell.

No touch screen though.
